Our bucket list trip to see the Northern Lights feels like stepping into a dream you didn’t know your eyes could hold. Imagine standing under a vast Arctic sky, the air crisp and quiet, when suddenly ribbons of green, violet, and pink begin to dance above you. The aurora doesn’t just appear—it moves, shimmers, and pulses as if it’s alive, putting on a private show just for you.

You might find yourself bundled in layers in a remote corner of Iceland, far from city lights. The darkness becomes part of the magic, making every flicker of color more vivid. Maybe you’re sipping something warm, breath visible in the cold, heart pounding a little as the sky transforms.

It’s not just about seeing the lights—it’s the anticipation, the stillness, the connection to nature at its most raw and beautiful. Some nights you wait, scanning the sky, learning patience. And when it finally happens, it feels earned.

DAY 1, Wednesday – Depart for Iceland

DAY 2, Thursday – Reykjavik City Tour, Village of Hella, Search for the Northern Lights
Arrive in Iceland, meet your Tour Manager and transfer to Reykjavik. Passengers should select flights that arrive by 8 AM. Your tour begins with a refreshing breakfast at Grazie Trattoria*. Afterward, visit the Aurora Reykjavik: The Northern Lights Center. Gain insight into the Northern Lights during a guided tour through the interactive exhibits and learn how to capture them on camera. Next, visit Flyover Iceland, offering a thrilling and immersive experience of Iceland’s natural beauty from a unique perspective. Suspended in front of a large spherical screen with effects like wind, mist, and scents, you’ll feel as though you’re soaring over Iceland’s rugged terrain. Then, take a panoramic drive past the Old Town Center, Parliament, the Cathedral, the bustling harbor area, and Hofdi House. Continue to the peaceful village of Hella and check into your hotel, which is situated far from city lights, making it an ideal place to view the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) when the skies are clear. Tonight, attend an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager, followed by dinner. Later, if conditions are right, meet your Tour Manager and walk outside the hotel to search the skies for the Northern Lights**
*Guests that are arriving prior to day 2 or who are making their own way from the airport should meet the group directly at Grazie Trattoria, Hverfisgata 96, 101 Reykjavík, by 8:30 AM.

DAY 3, Friday – South Shore Adventure
Today, visit the informative Lava Center in Hvolsvollur, with its interactive exhibition about geology and the volcanic systems in Iceland. Next, travel along the South Shore, admiring the gorgeous mountain views, including the snow shrouded Hekla, the country’s most active volcano, as well as the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano. Continue through the region where one of the best-known of the Icelandic classical sagas, Njál’s Saga, is set. Stop at the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, tumbling over high rock escarpments. Savor lunch at a local restaurant before passing through Vik, Iceland’s most southerly village. Return to Hella in the afternoon. Dinner tonight is at your hotel

DAY 4, Saturday – The Golden Circle: Gullfoss, Geysir, Þingvellir, Search for the Northern Lights
Explore Iceland’s Golden Circle, which features renowned natural wonders. Begin at Gullfoss (The Golden Waterfall), one of the most impressive waterfalls in Europe with thousands of tons of icy water pouring into a deep gorge. Then, on to the Geysir area, with its numerous hot springs, fumaroles, and geysers, including the Strokkur Geysir. Watch it erupt every few minutes spewing hot water high into the air. Have lunch at the family-run Friðheimar Greenhouse, a cultivation center. You’ll be astounded by the magic behind growing delicious, pesticide-free tomatoes and cucumbers with the aid of geothermal heat. A short and informative talk is followed by a tomato tasting. At the remarkable geological and historical area of Þingvellir, visit the site of the world’s oldest democratic parliament founded in 930 AD, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the canyon that runs through the park, stand on the dividing fault line between two of earth’s tectonic plates. Return to Reykjavik with time to relax before this evening’s private drive to continue your quest for the Northern Lights**

DAY 5, Sunday – The Blue Lagoon
A truly exquisite experience awaits you today at the spectacular Blue Lagoon, a natural pool of mineral rich geothermal water located in the middle of a lava field. The high levels of silica and minerals give the lagoon its vibrant rich blue color. Enjoy a bath or swim in the pleasantly warm water reputed for its healing properties. The facilities include modern changing rooms and showers, an indoor geothermal pool, an on-site restaurant featuring local favorites, and boutiques with products to take back home. Return to Reykjavik in the afternoon and visit Hallgrímskirkja Church, the city’s most iconic landmark. Admire its striking modernist architecture inspired by Iceland’s basalt landscapes. Tonight, at dinner, bid farewell to your Tour Manager

DAY 6, Monday – Depart Iceland
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight
