This morning, see the vast Tiananmen Square and the extravagant Ming-era Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City, including the jewelry section.
Day 4 • Beijing AB, L
Today, experience a highlight of your trip, as you visit the renowned Great Wall. On the way, if traffic allows, stop to photograph the iconic “Bird's Nest”—the Beijing National Stadium—host to many spectacular events of the 2008 Summer Olympics. Then, arrive at the amazing Great Wall and walk along its ramparts as emperors once did. After lunch, visit a jade factory and observe the skilled artisans at work, as they create intricate designs. Later, visit the elegant Summer Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the largest imperial garden in the world. The grounds include over 3,000 structures with a variety of pavilions, towers and arched bridges surrounding Lake Kunming (enjoy a boat ride if weather permits).
This evening, perhaps, join an optional Beijing Duck dinner (extra cost).
Day 5 • Beijing / Xi'an AB
Today, fly to historic Xi'an, former capital of China.
Day 6 • Xi'an AB, L, D
See the extraordinary Terracotta Warriors and the Bronze Chariot buried with Emperor Qin Shi Huang for more than 2,000 years and discovered by farmers in 1974; followed by a viewing of the 360-degrees circle-vision movie (movie subject to availability). Afterward, visit Beiyuanmen Muslim Street and the Grand Mosque. The local market offers a great selection of Chinese Muslim cuisine and craftsmanship.
Day 7 • Xi'an / Guilin AB, L, D
Today's flight takes you to Guilin set amidst a valley of dramatic peaks that have inspired artists through the centuries. Experience Guilin's local minorities and the “Palace of Natural Arts:" Reed Flue Caves’ stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars and stone curtains in shapes of birds, plants and animals, all glistening in colorful lights.
Day 8 • Guilin / Yangshuo / Guilin AB, L, D
Today, enjoy a scenic cruise along the Li River with a stop in Yangshuo, a small county diverse in culture and exotic flavors. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Later, board a motor coach for a drive back to Guilin.
Day 9 • Guilin / Shanghai AB
Fly to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 10 • Shanghai AB, L
Today, visit the Shanghai Museum, where you’ll have the opportunity to discover some of China's priceless pieces of ancient art consisting of bronze, ceramic, jade and calligraphy; followed by a visit to Shanghai's old town, Yu Garden, Silk factory and the city's colonial European past at the Bund. Your tour will end at Xintiandi, the “French Concession,” where you may wish to enjoy dinner and return to your hotel by taxi on your own.

After breakfast, bid farewell to China, as you board your departing flight home/onward.

AIRLINE RESERVATIONS AND PASSENGER NAMES: Photocopy of your passport , passport number, date and place of issue, and birth date are now required by many foreign governments, as well as some airlines, in order to confirm services. Names on your airline tickets must match the first and the last name(s) exactly as listed on your passport. It is the responsibility of the travel agent/traveler to verify that the name shown on the invoice exactly matches the traveler's passport name. PDT is not responsible for any ticket reissue charges or denial of boarding by an airline due to name discrepancy.
CHINA VISAS: PDT will be pleased to secure your China visa for a nominal fee (INCLUDED). US Passports must be valid for at least six months AFTER the date of return and should have at least four (4) blank visa pages for visa stamps, excluding the non-visa pages. Passports should be sent to our office at least 75 days prior to departure date with a completed and signed Visa Application Form, one (1) passport-size (2"x 2") color photo, and payment by credit card or check. Visa fee is non-refundable, once the visa has been issued. We must forward all applications to the Chinese Consulate for their approval. Persons under the age of 18 years old will be required to also submit their original birth certificate to be forwarded to the Chinese Consulate for a Chinese Visa request. PDT cannot guarantee the acceptance of your visa application. If, for any reason, your application is denied, a full refund will be made on your visa payment.
