DAY 6 SYRACUSE Seaside Syracuse, which rivalled Athens as the most important city of ancient Greece, awaits on your free day. DAY 8 CARRUBA – TAORMINA – CARRUBA This morning we’ll make tracks to Taormina, where you’ll have a free day to take in the 13th-century Cathedral of San Nicola and the splendid Greek Theatre. After a day of exploring, tonight’s farewell dinner will be well-deserved. (B,D)

DAY 9 CARRUBA – CATANIA Today, our tour will end in Catania – but not before a walking tour of the ancient port city. With an included visit to a local market, you can stock up on foodie souvenirs to bring home including favorites such as olives, biscotti, cheese and wine. (B)

Our accommodation, whether old country estate, exotic hotel resort or traditional villa, is carefully selected to reflect the character and charm of each Back-Roads destination. Some properties are situated in a stunning setting or have interesting historical and architectural heritage, while others may have been chosen for their owner-hosted welcome or excellent food.

Character is not a substitute for quality, however, which is why all of our accommodation throughout Europe and Asia comes complete with private bath, comfortable furnishings and delicious food. We offer a choice of twin, double or single rooms – and while room sizes in older buildings may vary, each room will have its own unique style and character.
